Primary Sucession colonization of barren land bby communites of organisms
Climax Community a stable mature community that undergoes little or no change in species
Secondary Sucession the sequence of events that take place after an existing community is severely disrupted
Biome a large group of ecosystems that share the same type of climax community
Photic Zone portion of marine biome that is shallow enough for sunlight to penetrate
Aphotic Zone includes the deepest least exploraed areas of the ocean
Estuary coastal body of water partially surrounded by land in which salt and fresh water mix
Intertidal Zone Portian of the shoreline that lines between the high and low tides
Plankton small organisms that drift and float in waters of the photic zone
Tundra treeless land with long summer days and short periods of winter sunlight
Taiga also called boreal or northern coniferous forest
Desert an arid region with sparse to almost no existent plantlife
Grasslands large communities covered with rich soil grasses and similar plants,
Temperate &Deciduous Forests are dominated by broad leaved hardwood trees that loose foliage annually
Tropical Rain Forests have warm temperatures, wet wheather, and lush plant growth
