What is happening in the skies when there is low pressure? There are cloudy skies because the air is lifting.
What is happening in the skies when there is high pressure? There are clear skies because warm air is sinking
What is happening with pressure when it is windy? When it is windy, air is going from high pressure to low pressure.
What do you measure atmospheric pressure with? a Barometer
Humidity how much water vapor is i the air
What do you measure humidity with? a Sling Psychrometer
Which kind of air holds MORE water vapor? warm air
Which kind of air holds LESS water vapor cold air
Dew Point when water "sweats." *when air temperatures drop, less water vapor can be present in the air.
ADC Summit a very expensive tool used to get temp, wind speed/direction, barometric pressure, wind chill and much more.
How much info can the ADC Summit store? The ADC Summit can take info every hour for a week.
How do clouds form? warm air is forced upwards, expands and cools. As the air cools, saturation increases and clouds begin to form. When relative humidity reaches 100%, water vapor condenses into tiny droplets of water.

What does the latin root Nimbus mean? rain bearing
What are some characteristics of CUMULUS clouds? *dense, white cloud formation with domed-shaped upper surfaces and horizontal bases *flat base, fluffy top *means heap *really dense *air moving upward *at least as tall as they are wide *looks like collyflower *known as low clouds
What are some characteristics of CIRRUS clouds? *seen in tuffs or feathery bands across the sky *whispy *ice crystals *horsetails *high in atmosphere *known as high clouds
What are some characteristics of STRATUS clouds? *fog-like appearance *gray *horizontaly across the sky *water cloud *usually produces precipitation
What are some characteristics of CUMULONIMBUS clouds? *large *flat *dark base, large top *associated with sleet, rain and hail *alot of energy and moisture in a small area *can produce tornados *start to flatten out @ top *rain bearing cumulus clouds
