PSA Challenge Vocabulary

WordDefinition
Force Mass divided by velocity, a push or a pull.
Mass How much matter is in something.
Acceleration The change in velocity.
Drag An increade of friction.
Speed The rate at which an object moves.
Terminal Speed The maximum speed an object reaches.
Terminal Velocity The maximum velocity an object reaches.
Inertia An object's tendency to resist change in motion.
Deceleration The decreasing od acceleration.
Friction The tendency of objects to slow down when rubbed against each other.
Invisible Forces Forces you can't see.
Air Resistance A tendency of air to grab things and slow them down.
Motion Movement of an object from one place to another.
Velocity Speed and direction.
Linear Motion Movement on a line.
Newton's 1st Law An object in motion stays in motion and an object at rest stays at reast until acetd upon by an outside force.
Newton's 2nd Law A net force acting on an object causes the object to accelerate in the direction of the force.
Newton's 3rd Law When one object exerts a force on a second object, the second one exerts a force on the first that is equil in size and opposite in direction.
Coasting Moving without any force being applied at that time, but with force from a past time.
Speed Change A change in speed while something is in motion.
Unbalanced Forces The subtraction of forces where there is a remaining force and both forces are not cancled out.
Torque A turning or twisting force.
ISS The International Space Station that is being built by 21 countries.
Reverse Thrust A force in the opposite direction of your first force.
Lever Arm The Canadian arm on the ISS used to pick up stuff and is attached to a lever.
Robota The first robot ever built.
Unimate The first robot to work in industry.
Deep Space One The first deep-space probe to rely on ion engines for primary propulsion.
ISS The internaional space staion that is beingbulit by 21countries
