Organic Compound molecules built around the element carbon.
Macromolecule large molecules made from smaller molecules bonding together.
Monomer smaller molecules bonded together, like building blocks.
Polymer a protein
Carbohydrate Class of macromolecules composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms
Monosaccharide A basic carbohydrate like sugar or glucose
Disaccharide 2 monosaccharide units joined together.
Lipid the main structural component of the cell membrane of all organisms
Phospholipid makes up the protective outer membrane of all cells
Protein Polymer made of monomers called amnio acids they're composed of 5 elements carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and sometimes sulfur.
Amino Acid Composed of an amine group, a carboxyl group, and a side chain group that varies
Enzyme Biological catalysts that speed up chemical reactions by breaking down molecules and synthesizing new ones
Nucleic Acid Polymers composed of monomers called nucleotides.
Nucleotide 3 part unit that consists of a 5-carbon sugar, a phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base.
