| Hypothesis | A testable explanation for an observation |
| Variable | A factor that can change in an experiment |
| Dependent Variable | Variable that is measured in an experiment |
| Independent Variable | Variable that the scientist chooses to change |
| Constant Variable | Variable that stays the same during an experiment |
| Observation | Gathering information by using your 5 senses |
| Inference | A guess made based off an observation |
| Conclusion | Explains what an experiment discovered and whether the data supports the hypothesis |
| Data | Collection of words or measurements |
| Scientific Law | States what will happen under specific conditions in nature, every time |
| Scientific Theory | Well-tested reliable explanation backed by a large body of evidence |
| Evaluate | To see how well an experiment or idea works by looking at its evidence, quality or results |
| Justify | To show/prove that an idea is right or reasonable |
| Modify | To make some changes, while keeping others the same |
| Analyze | To study something by breaking it down into smaller parts |
| Prove | To show that something is true or real by using facts and evidence |
| Disprove | To show that a hypothesis or idea is false |
