| Objective Documentation | Recording only factual observations without opinions or assumptions. |
| Refusal of Care | Documentation showing a competent patient understands the risks and voluntarily refuses treatment or transport. |
| Confidentiality (HIPAA) | Protecting patient privacy by only sharing information with those directly involved in patient care. |
| Mandatory Reporting | The legal duty to report certain incidents such as child abuse, elder abuse, gunshot wounds, and other situations required by state law. |
| Radio Communication | Using clear, concise, professional communication with dispatch and receiving hospitals to ensure continuity of care. |
| Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) | Resources and strategies that help EMS providers cope with stress after difficult or traumatic calls. |
