QuestionAnswer
Development Changes an organism goes through as it matures and becomes more complex.
Reproduction The process by which organisms produce new organisms of the same species.
Organism A living thing that can carry out life processes.
cell The smallest basic unit of life.
homeostasis The process of maintaining a stable internal environment.
Metabolism All the chemical reactions that occur inside an organism to keep it alive.
Stimulus A change in the environment that causes an organism to react.
Response The reaction of an organism to a stimulus.
Growth An increase in the size or number of cells in an organism.
adaptation An inherited trait that helps an organism survive and reproduce in its environment.
evolution The change in inherited characteristics of populations over generations.
species A group of organisms that can reproduce with one another and produce fertile offspring.
hypothesis A testable explanation or prediction that can be investigated.
independent variable The variable that is deliberately changed in an experiment.
dependent variable The variable that is measured or observed in an experiment.
