Natural Selection The process in which a characteristic that makes an individual better suited to its environment may eventually become common in that species
Adaptations The behaviors and physical characteristics that allow organisms to live successfully in their environments
Niche The role of an organism in its habitat or how it makes its living
Competition The struggle between organisms to survive as they attempt to use the same limited resource
Predation The interaction in which one organism kills another for food
Predator The organism that kills another to eat.
Prey The animal that is killed in predation
Symbiosis The interaction between two organisms
Mutualism When the relationship between two organisms benefits them both
Commensalism When the relationship between two organisms benefits one organism and doesn't affect the other
Parasitism When the relationship between two organisms benefits one organism and harms the other
Parasite An organism that lives in another organism and feeds off its nutrients at its expense
Host An organism housing another organism that is feeding off of its nutrients at its expense
