| Absolute Value | the distance between a number and zero on the number line |
| Additive Inverse | two numbers whose sum are 0 are additive inverses of one another; they are equal distance from zero on a number line |
| Integers | the set of whole numbers and their opposites |
| Multiplicative Inverse | two numbers whose product is 1 are multiplicative inverses of one another |
| Natural Numbers | the set of whole numbers from 0 upwards |
| Negative Numbers | the set of numbers with a value less than zero |
| Opposite Numbers | two different numbers that have the same absolute value |
| Positive Numbers | the set of numbers whose value is greater than zero |
| Rational Numbers | the set of numbers that can be written in the form a/b where a and b are integers and b ≠ 0 |
| Repeating Decimal | a number whose decimal representation repeats indefinitely |
| Terminating Decimal | a decimal with a finite number of digits |
| Zero Pair | a pair of numbers whose sum is zero |
