T4 - Earth and Space

QuestionAnswer
Seasons One of the four periods in the year (Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring). The seasons are the result of the tilt of the Earth's axis at 23.5 degrees.
Orbit The path that one object in space takes around another object in space.
Revolve One complete orbit made by a planet or satellite.
Rotate The spinning of an object on its axis.
Tilt A sloping position.
Rotation Ro-Day-tion. The Earth rotates on its axis every 24 hours.
Revolution It takes Earth 365 days to revolve around the sun one time.
Axis An imaginary line from the North Pole to the South Pole.
Sun Rotates on an axis. The source of heat and light for our solar system.
Earth The 3rd planet from the sun. 4 times larger than the moon. Rotates every 24 hours.
Moon Rotates on an axis. The Earth's natural satellite. It takes 29 days to revolve around the Earth.
Hemispheres The Earth is divided into two hemispheres. Northern is above the equator. Southern is below the equator.
Summer Summer is warmer than Winter. The sun's rays hit the Earth at a more direct angle. (June to August)
Winter Days are shorter in the winter. (December to February).
