| Adenoidectomy | a fast surgical procedure to remove the adenoid glands to treat breathing problems, sleep apnea, or frequent ear, and sinus infections |
| Tonsillectomy | a short surgery to remove the tonsils |
| Rhinorrhea | a runny nose |
| Nasaogastric tube | a thin, flexible plastic tube past through the nose, down to the esophagus, and into the stomach for short term feeding, medication delivery, or gastric suctioning |
| Laryngitis | the swelling of your voice box (larynx) caused by a viral infection, vocal strain, or irritation, leading to hoarseness, a weak voice or lost a voice |
| Tracheotomy | a surgical procedure that creates an open airway through the neck into the windpipe |
| Sinusitis | inflammation of the air-filled spaces around your nose, causing facial pain, a blocked or runny nose, and thick mucus |
| Pulmonologist | a medical doctor who specializes in the respiratory system, diagnosing and treating conditions like asthma, COPD, and pneumonia |
| Costectomy | surgical removal of all or part of a rib |
| Hypoxia | a dangerous medical condition where you body tissues do not get enough oxygen |
| Hyperventilation | rapid or deep breathing that lowers carbon monoxide levels in the blood, commonly caused by anxiety, panic, or stress |
| Sputum | a thick mixture of mucus and saliva coughed up from the lungs or lower airways |
| Pneumothorax | “a collapsed lung” happens when air leaks into the space between your lung and chest wall |
| Ventilation–perfusion scan | a two-part nuclear imaging test that measures airflow (ventilation) and blood flow (perfusion) in the lungs |
| Emphysema | a chronic lung disease categorized by shortness of breath, wheezing, a long-term cough |

| CPAP | continuous positive airway pressure |

| Nephritis | inflammation of the kidneys that affects their ability to filter waste commonly caused by infections, autoimmune diseases, or medication |
| Glomerulopathy | any disease that damages the tiny filtering units (glomeruli) in the kidneys |
| Testitis | pain, swelling, and inflammation in one or both testicles |
| Spermicide | a non-hormonal birth control method that stops sperm from moving |
| Aspermia | a medical condition, where a man produces no sperm during ejaculation resulting in “dry orgasms” |
| Erections | a normal body response where the penis fills up with blood, becomes hard, and grows larger |
| Incontinence | the loss of bladder or bowel control |
| Priapism | a long and painful erection the last for more than four hours without sexual arousal |
| Cystorrhexis | rupture of the urinary bladder |
| VCUG | voiding cystourethrogram |
| Urologist | a medical doctor who treats diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system including the kidneys, bladder, and prostate |

| TRUS | transrectal ultrasound |
| Prostate gland | a small, walnut sized reproductive organ that produces seminal fluid, surrounds the urethra, and sits just behind the bladder |
| Cystitis | inflammation of the bladder |
| Cystoma | “cystic tumor” a growth or mass that contains fluid, semi-solid or oily materials |
| Renal cell carcinoma | the most common kidney cancer and adults |
| Urethrocystitis | simultaneous inflammation of the urethra and urinary bladder |
| UTI | urinary tract infection |
| SUI | stress urinary incontinence |
| BPH | benign prostate hyperplasia |
| BUN | blood urea nitrogen |
| Gonorrhea | a common sexually transmitted infection caused by bacteria that can infect the genitals, rectum and throat |
| HSV | herpes simplex virus |
| HIV | human immunodeficiency virus |
| Dialysis | a life-sustaining medical treatment that filters waste, extra salt, and fluid from the blood when the kidneys fail |
| GI | gastrointestinal tract |
| Colonectomy | a major surgical procedure to remove all or part of the colon (large intestine) |
| Anal fistula | a small tunnel, connecting an infected gland inside the anus to an opening on the outside skin |
