| Anterior or Ventral | Front or towards the front example: Sternum |
| Posterior or dorsal | Back or towards the rear example: Spinal cord |
| Superior | Situated above or higher example: Eyes |
| Inferior | Bellow example: Stomach |
| Lateral | Away from the midline example: Thumb |
| Distal | Away from the center of the body example: Wrist |
| Proximal | Near the center of the body example: Shoulder |

| Eu- | Good, well, normal, or true example: Eupnea |
