Green Manure crop specifically grown to be chopped down and tilled (mixed) into the soil while still green
Friable loose crumble soil structure
Eutrophication Excessive leaching of nutrients into waterways
Effluent is a source of organic matter that is stored until soil conditions are right
Lack of nitrogen Leaves turn yellow
Lack of phosphorus Leaves turn purple/ blue
Adding organic matter increases earthworm activity which improves soil drainage and aeration
Inorganic fertilisers made artificially and contain chemicals
Humus organic matter that gets broken down forms this
Pugging damage caused to soil structure in wet conditions
Nitrogen Nutrient that forms chlorophyll and improves leaf growth
Adding organic matter improves the nutrient status of soils
