| Antibiotics (Cefazolin) | Purpose: Prevent surgical site infections |
| Benziodiazepines: midazolam(versed), diazepam(Valium), and lorazepam(ativan) | Purpose: Decrease anxiety and produce sedation, induce amnesia, may induce substancial amnesia. |
| Opioids (Morphine, Fentanyl, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Tramadol, Codeine | Purpose: Decrease anxiety, provide analgesia, allow reduced anesthetic dose. |
| H2 Receptor Antagonists: Tagamet, Pepsid, and Zantac | Purpose: Reduce gastric acid and volume concentration. |
| Proton Pump Inhibitors Prevacid, Inapsine | Purpose: Supress gastric acid secretion |
| Antiemetics Reglan, Inapsine | Purpose: Enhance gastric emptying, traquilizer, prevent n/v preoperatively. |
| Anticholinergics Atropine sulfate, Robinul | Purpose: Reduce oral and respiratory secretions to decrease risk of aspiration; decrease risk of vomitting and laryngospasm, block vagal response. |
| Anticholingeric symptoms of surgery | Dry mouth, confusion, tachycardia, restlessness. |
| Diagnostic Test | CBC (h&h, wbc with diff, platelet.), potassium, chloride, sodium, pt/ptt, urinalysis, ekg, cxr, ecg. |
