| wavelength | The distance between two successive peaks or troughs of a wave. |
| electromagnetic spectrum | The entire range of all types of electromagnetic radiation, from radio waves to gamma rays. |
| spectrum | A band of colors or a range of frequencies/wavelengths produced when light or radiation is dispersed. |
| probe | An uncrewed spacecraft designed to explore space and transmit data back to Earth. |
| artificial satellite | Any human-made object placed into orbit around a celestial body, such as Earth or the Moon. |
| NASA | The National Aeronautics and Space Administration; the U.S. government agency responsible for the civilian space program and aerospace research. |
| spinoff | A commercial product or technology developed from research originally intended for space missions (e.g., memory foam or scratch-resistant lenses). |
| launch | The process of sending a rocket or spacecraft into flight or orbit. |
