TermDefinition
wavelength The distance between two adjacent crests or troughs of a wave.
electromagnetic spectrum All of the frequencies or wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation.
spectrum A range of electromagnetic radiation that is ordered by wavelength or frequency, such as the band of colors that is produced when white light passes through a prism.
probe An uncrewed vehicle that carries scientific instruments into space to collect scientific data.
artificial satellite Any human-made object placed in orbit around a body in space.
NASA The National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
spinoff A commercialized product incorporating NASA technology or "know how" that benefits the public.
launch The process of setting a rocket or spacecraft in motion
