Space Rocks

TermDefinition
Solar System the Sun and everything that moves around it because of the Sun’s gravity.
Galaxy a huge collection of stars, planets, gas, dust, and dark matter that are all held together by gravity.
Universe everything that exists — all space, time, matter, and energy.
Asteroid a rocky object that orbits the Sun
Asteroid Belt a wide region of space between Mars and Jupiter where most of the solar system’s asteroids are found.
Comet a small object made of ice, dust, and rock that orbits the Sun.
Meteoroid a small piece of rock or metal that travels through space.
Meteor when a meteoroid enters Earth’s atmosphere and burns up
Meteorite when the meteor reaches the ground without burning up completely
