| solid | a state of matter that has a shape of its own |
| liquid | a state of matter that takes the shape of the container it is in |
| gas | a state of matter that does not have its own shape |
| physical change | a change of matter in size, shape, or state that does not change |
| condensation | the process through which a gas changes into a liquid |
| evaporation | the process through which a liquid changes into gas |
| chemical change | a change that results in a new or different substance |
