Human Impacts On The Environment

TermDefinition
Overpopulation When the number of humans grows beyond the available resources.
Death Rate The number of deaths per 1000 individuals for a certian time period.
Sustainable use The practice of using resources in a way that they will continue to be available in the future.
Agriculture Using the land to produce food.
Deforestation The removal of forests and trees to use the land for other reasons.
Expontential Growth The rate of change that increases more and more rapidly over time.
Pollution The contamination of Earth's land, water, & air by the release of harmful substances into the environment.
Conservation The practice of using fewer resources so that they can last longer.
Desertification The advance of desert-like conditions into an area that was once fertile.
Birth Rate The number of births per 1000 individuals for a certain time period.
