Natural Disasters

Natural Disasters Events that occur due to natural processes and result in significant harm to human life. property, and the environment.
Hazard A natural process or phenomenon that has the potential to cause destruction.
Vulnerability The susceptibility of a community, system. or asset to the damaging effects of a hazard.
Resilience The ability of a community or system to withstand, adapt to, and recover from the effects of a hazard.
Geological Disasters Includes earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, and landslides
Hydrological Disasters Floods, avalanches, and mudslides.
Meteorological Disasters Hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, and droughts
Biological Disasters Pandemics, infestations, and disease outbreaks.
Tectonic Plates Movement of Earth's plates can cause earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions
Weather Patterns Extreme weather conditions lead to storms, floods, and droughts.
Human Activity Deforestation, urbanization, and poor land use can exacerbate the impact of natural disasters.
