Tilt A sloping position or movement of the Earths axis
Rotation The movement of the Earth on its own axis
Revolution The movement of the Earth around the Sun in a fixed orbit.
Axis An imaginary line around which a body rotates
Solar Energy Radiant energy emitted by the Sun
Orbital Plane All planets orbit around Sun. all orbits line up with each other making a kind of flat disk called orbital plane
Seasons Each of four divisions of the year are marked by particular weather pattern and daylight hours due to the changing position of the Earth.
Tide A daily rise and fall of the ocean water along the coastline.
High Tide Daily state of the ocean when the water reaches its highest elevation along a coastline, resulting from the gravitational pull of the moon causing the ocean to bulge.
High Tide pt. 2 Due to Earth's rotation, most coastal areas experience two high tides roughly every 24 hours
Low Tide the daily point in the tidal cycle when ocean water reaches its lowest level at a specific location, exposing more of the shoreline.
Low Tide pt. 2 It occurs as the gravitational pull of the moon and sun causes water to recede, generally happening twice daily roughly 6 hours after high tide.
