Identify Communcation Guidelines for Inappropriate sexual behavior

Inappropriate Sexual Behavior Guideline #1 If you encounter an embarrassing situation, do not overreact. Be professional. Remain calm and try to distract the person. If this does not work, gently direct the resident to a private area. Tell the nurse
Inappropriate Sexual Behavior Guideline #2 Do not judge the behavior and do not gossip about it with other staff members or residents
Inappropriate Sexual Behavior Guideline #3 A resident who is confused may sometimes exhibit inappropriate behavior that is caused by a rash, cloths that are to tight, too hot, too scratchy, or the need to go to the bathroom. Watch for these problems
Inappropriate Sexual Behavior Guideline #4 Always report all inappropriate behavior to the nurse

all human beings need love and affection
residents have the right to engage in mutually agreed upon sexual relationships, they also have the right to masterbate
MATURBATION means to touch or rub sexual organs in order to give oneself or another person sexual pleasure
masturbation is a normal expression of sexual needs in all people including the elderly
if an NA witnesses a sexual situation between consenting adults, she should provide privacy and leave the area
