| photosynthesis | the process by which producers make energy - plants that make their own food using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide |
| oxygen | a gas released from plants and taken in by humans and animals |
| carbon dioxide | a gas taken in by plants and given off by humans and animals |
| organism | a living thing |
| Sun | the main source of energy for photosynthesis |
| glucose | a sugar made by plants during photosynthesis |
| structure | a body part of an animal, plant, or human |
| function | how the part is used - the purpose of the structure |
| adaptation | a characteristic that helps living things survive |
| pollinate | to move pollen from one plant to another |
| dormant | a period of time when a plant stops growing to conserve energy |
| disperse | to spread something around to other places |
