QuestionAnswer
ecosystem a community of different populations of organisms that live together and interact with non-living parts of the environment.
organism any individual living thing. Organisms can be plants, animals, fungi, and single-celled life forms such as bacteria or algae.
biotic factors the parts of an ecosystem that are alive (the organisms).
abiotic factors The parts of an ecosystem that are not alive, such as light, air, water, and soil.
population a group of organisms of the same species, living together in the same place. Example: the population of trout in a stream, or the population of grizzle bears in Yellowstone National Park.
