TermDefinition
Aquatic Aquatic is an adjective referring to things relating to, living in, or growing in water (e.g., aquatic plants), as well as activities practiced on or in water
Sequester Sequester means to isolate, set apart, or segregate a person, group, or property. It commonly refers to separating a jury from outside influences during a trial, seizing property via legal action, or setting oneself apart in seclusion.
indefinitely Indefinitely is an adverb meaning for an unlimited, unknown, or unspecified period of time, often implying a situation will continue until further notice.
secrete "Secrete" primarily means to produce and release a substance (like hormones or sweat) from cells or glands in the body, or secondarily, to hide or conceal something
dilute Dilute (pronounced dī-ˈlüt or də-ˈlüt) means to make a liquid thinner, weaker, or less concentrated by adding another substance (usually solvent/water)
Constraint A constraint is a limitation, restriction, or boundary that controls, shapes, or holds back actions, behavior, or systems
Criterion A criterion (plural: criteria) is a standard, rule, or test by which something is judged, evaluated, or decided
correlation Correlation is a statistical measure expressing the strength and direction of a relationship between two or more variables, indicating how they change together
causation- Causation is the process, act, or agency by which one event (the cause) directly produces a subsequent event or change (the effect)
aesthetic Aesthetics is the philosophical study and appreciation of beauty, art, and taste, focusing on how sensory experiences, objects, and environments evoke pleasure
Finite Finite describes something with measurable, definite limits, an end, or boundaries
Resilient Resilient describes the capacity to recover quickly from misfortune, change, or illness, or to withstand stress without breaking
overexploitation Overexploitation is the unsustainable, rapid harvesting of renewable natural resources—such as fishing, hunting, and logging—faster than they can naturally replenish, threatening biodiversity and risking species extinction
biosphere The biosphere is the global sum of all ecosystems, encompassing all living organisms (plants, animals, microbes) and their interactions with the lithosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere
geosphere The geosphere is the solid portion of Earth, comprising all rocks, minerals, soil, and sediments from the surface down to the core
hydrosphere The hydrosphere is the total amount of water on Earth—including oceans, lakes, rivers, groundwater, and ice—covering about 71% of the surface
atmosphere An atmosphere is a layer of gases surrounding a planet, particularly Earth, providing air, trapping heat, and shielding against radiation
conserve Conserve means to protect, save, or use resources wisely to prevent waste or destruction. It is used when managing energy, natural resources, or personal energy (e.g., "conserve electricity," "conserve your strength")
