Admission, Transfer, Discharge, and Physical Exams

| Admission Pack | Personal care items supplied upon a residents admission. |
| Admit | The entrance of a person to a healthcare facility, beginning care. |
| Baseline | Initial value that can be compared to future measurement. |
| Bedridden | Confined to bed. |
| Discharge | The release of a person from a healthcare facility ending care. |
| Dorsal Recumbent | Position in which a person is flat on her back with her knees flexed and slightly separated and there feet flat on there back. |
| Kilogram | A unit of mass equal to 1000 grams. |
| Knee-Chest | Position in which a person is lying on his abdomen, with knees pulled up toward the abdomen, and with leg separated, arms are pulled up and flexed, and the head is turned to one side |
| Lithotomy | Position in which a person is on her back with her hips at the edge of the exam table, legs are flexed and feet are in padded stirrups. |
| Metric | System of weights and measures based upon the meter and the kilogram |
| Pound | A unit of weight equal to 16 ounces |
| Return | The readmittance of a resident to the care facility. |
| Transfer | Moving a person from one place to another, a formal handoff of care from one healthcare professional to another. |
