What is Meiosis? The process of cell division that makes gametes in the gonads
What is a Gonad? Ovaries(Female) and Testes(Male)
What is Sexual Reproduction? When to parents fuse their gametes together to create an offspring that has both of their genes
What is Fertilization? fusion of egg and sperm to form a zygote
What are Homologous Chromosomes? Chromosome pairs that have the same types of genes
What are Sister Chromatids? 2 Identical copies of the same chromosome
What is Meiosis I? Separation of Homologous Chromosomes
What is Meiosis II? Separation of Sister Chromatids
What is crossing over? And what is its significance? When chromosomes exchange genes; Creates new combos of genes
What can happen if there is a mistake during Meiosis? Genetic Disorders
What can happen if there is a mistake during Mitosis? Genetic Disorders
What is the result of Meiosis? 4 Haploid daughter cells
What is the result of Mitosis? 2 Diploid daughter cells
