Ecologic Key Words
Organism, habitat, species, etc.
| Question | Answer |

| Organism | A living thing. (ex. ladybug) |
| Habitat | The specific place that an organisms lives that gives it what it needs to survive. (ex. bird's nest in tree) |
| Biotic Factor | The living parts of a habitat. (ex. frog, grass, etc.) |
| Abiotic Factor | The non-living parts of a habitat. (ex. water, air, sunlight) Hint: the A in ABIOTIC means not, not living. |
| Photosynthesis | The process in which Plants make their own food/energy and products that they release into the air. |
| Species | A group of the same organisms that can mate with each other. (ex. dalmatians) |
| Population | All the members of one species living together in a specific area. (ex. red eared slider turtles in our swamps) |
| Community | All the different populations that live together in an area. (ex. a pond, frogs, fish, turtles, etc.) |
| Ecosystem | The community of organisms that live in a particular area with their non-living surroundings. (ex. the rainforest: trees, birds, monkeys, air, dead stuff) |
| Ecology | The study of how living things interact with each other and their environment. |
