Heart pathflow
Trace the flow of blood through the heart.

| 1. | Deoxygenated blood from the body returns to the right atrium via: Superior vena cava (from upper body), Inferior vena cava (from lower body), Coronary sinus (from heart muscle) |
| 2. | Blood flows through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle. |
| 3. | The right ventricle contracts, pushing blood through the pulmonary valve into the pulmonary trunk, which splits into the left and right pulmonary arteries. |
| 4. | Blood travels to the lungs via the pulmonary arteries to become oxygenated. |
| 5. | Oxygen-rich blood returns to the left atrium via the pulmonary veins (two from each lung). |
| 6. | Blood flows through the mitral (bicuspid) valve into the left ventricle. |
| 7. | The left ventricle contracts, sending blood through the aortic valve into the aorta. |
| 8. | From the aorta, blood is distributed to the entire body, and the cycle repeats. |
