Layers of the Earth

QuestionAnswer
The thickest layer of Earth, located between the core and the crust. MANTLE
The only liquid layer of the Earth; its flow creates our magnetic field. OUTER CORE
The thinnest, outermost layer where we live. CRUST
The solid, extremely hot center of the planet made mostly of iron. INNER CORE
Hot, melted rock found under the surface (it’s called lava once it erupts!) MAGMA
One of the two main metals found in both the inner and outer core. IRON
What we call melted rock once it breaks through the crust and hits the air. LAVA
The type of crust found under the sea; it is thinner and denser than land. OCEANIC
The type of crust found under land and is least dense crust CONTINENTAL
This "squeezing" force keeps the Inner Core solid even though it is very hot. PRESSURE
