TermDefinition
Solar System The sun and all the objects that move around it, including planets, moons, asteroids, and comets.
Star A huge ball of hot, glowing gas that makes its own light and energy.
Sun The star at the center of our solar system, providing light and heat to Earth.
Planet A large object that orbits a star and does not make its own light.
Orbit The curved path an object follows as it moves around another object in space.
Moon A natural object, satellite, that orbits a planet.
Asteroid A small, rocky object that orbits the sun, mostly found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
Comet A space object made of ice, dust, and rock that orbits the sun and forms a glowing tail when it gets close to the sun.
Rotation The spinning of an object on its axis (like Earth spinning to create day and night).
Revolution The movement of one object around another (like Earth traveling around the sun in one year).
