| Term | Definition |

| Weather | The state of the atmosphere at a given time and place |
| Front | Where two different air masses meet |
| Humidity | A measure of the amount of moisture in the air |
| Air Pressure | A measure of amount of pressure of force from the air |
| Temperature | How hot or cold something is |
| Air Mass | Large body of air with the same temperature and humidity |
| Cold Front | Cold air advances toward warm air and pushes it up and out of the way. Creates heavy storms and a lot of precipitation. |
| Warm Front | A front where warm air moves over cold air. Brings light rain and an increase in temperatures. |
| Hydrometer | A tool used to measure humidity |
| Barometer | A tool used to measure air pressure |
| Wind Vane | A tool used to measure wind direction |
| Thermometer | A tool used to measure temperature |
| Occluded Front | Fast moving cold front overtakes a warm front causing warm air to rise as these air masses come together. Brings overcast conditions with patchy rain. |
| Stationary Front | A pair of air masses meet, neither of which is strong enough to replace the other causing days of cloudiness and rain. |
| Anemometer | An instrument used to measure wind speed |
| Thunderstorm | A storm with thunder and lightning and typically also heavy rain or hail. |
| Tornado | A rapidly whirling, funnel-shaped cloud that reaches down to touch Earth's surface. |
| Hurricane | A severe storm that develops over tropical oceans and comes with very strong winds and high amounts of precipitation |
| Rain Gauge | An instrument used to measure precipitation. |
| High Pressure System | Often times associated with clear blue skies |
| Low Pressure System | Generally create winds and undesirable weather (bad weather) |
| Blizzard | A severe winter weather event with extreme winds and snowfall |
