Animal and Plant Cells
| What is an Organelle? | The organelle are the smaller parts of the cell that have specific functions. |
| What Organelles are inside of an Animal Cell | Cell membrane, Cytoplasm, Nucleus, Mitochondria, Ribosomes, Endoplasmic reticulum, Vacuole. |
| What is the Cell Membrane? | It's the skin that holds the cell together and it controls what comes in and out of the cell. |
| What is Cytoplasm? | Its a jelly-like substance that supports the organelles. |
| What is the Nucleus? | It's the control centre of the cell. It controls all chemical reactions and how the cell develops and reproduces. It also holds DNA. |
| What is the DNA in the Nucleus? | The DNA contains the instructions for every job the cells do. |
| What is Mitochondria? | Makes energy from the food, it's made by cellular respiration. Different cells have difference amount depending on their energy needs. |
| What are Ribosomes? | They produce proteins that the body needs for growth and repair. Proteins are made form smaller building blocks called Amino Acids-ribosomes put these together to make proteins. |
| What is Endoplasmic Reticulum? | Forms pathways to allow substances to move easily around the cell. There can be Smooth and Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum. Smooth has no ribosomes attached while Rough does. |
| What is a Vacuole? | Little sacks that may contain water or chemicals that are being moved around the cell. Animal cells have smaller vacuoles than cell pants. Animal Cells may have several vacuoles. |
| What two organelles do Plant Cells have that Animal Cells don't? | Cell wall, Chloroplasts |
| What is a Cell Wall? | It lies outside the cell membrane. It helps keep the plants shape and helps it stay upright. It acts like a skeleton for the cell. |
| What are Chloroplasts? | The site of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the way a plant call makes food for itself. It contains a green pigment called chlorophyll. |
| What does the Vacuole do in a Plant Cell? | Contains sap and stores water, nutrients and waste. They are much bigger Rin a plant cell than an animal cell. When it is full it pushes against the cell wall making the cell feel rigid. (Storage Containers of the cell) |
| What does CERVMNC stand for? | Cell membrane Endoplasmic reticulum Ribosomes Vacuole Mitochondria Nucleus Cytoplasm |
