| absorption | the taking in or soaking in of energy or liquid |
| concave lens | a piece of curved, see-through material that is thinner at the center than at the edges and disperses light rays outward |
| convex lens | a piece of curved, see-through material that is thicker at the center than at the edges and concentrates light rays inward |
| light | energy that travels in waves; energy we can see |
| medium | a substance through which light can pass |
| reflection | the bouncing back of light when it strikes certain surfaces |
| refraction | he bending of light as it passes through a medium |
| translucent | allowing some light to pass through but not detailed views. |
| transparent | allow light to pass through completely, making objects on the other side clearly visible |
| opaque | completely block light from passing through them |
