4.10B Slow Changes on Earth

TermDefinition
deposition The dropping off of sediment in a new location.
erosion The movement of sediment; to be carried away.
weathering The breaking down of large rocks into sediments.
sediment Small pieces of rocks
delta A triangular shaped landform at the mouth of a river formed by water erosion and sediment deposition.
glacier A large, slow-moving chunk of ice
sand dune A large hill or mound of sand formed by wind, erosion, and deposition found in deserts and coastlines.
U-Shaped Valley Found in high mountainous areas created by slow moving glacial weathering and erosion - usually in a "U" shape
