Sun The star at the center of our solar system that gives Earth heat and light
Star A huge ball of hot glowing gases that makes its own light.
Solar system The sun and all the planets and objects that orbit around it
Luminosity How bright a star really is
Energy Power that makes things happen the sun gives energy to Earth.
Lightyear The distance light travels in one year
Distance How far apart two objects are
Brightness How much light something gives or how bright it looks
Temperature How hot or cold something is
Revolve To move around another object in a circle
Gases Materials like air that do not have a shape
Hydrogen The lightest gas and a main gas in stars
Helium A gas formed inside stars another main gas in stars.
Orbit The path an object follows as it moves around another object
Galaxy A huge collection of stars gas and dust
Perspective The point of view you see something from
Scale The size of something compared to something else
Composition What something is made of
Telescope A tool that makes faraway objects look closer
Spectroscope A tool that separates light into colors to show what it is made of
Halley’s Comet A ball of ice dust and gas that orbits the sun about every 75 years
