Patterns of the Sky

TermDefinition
Axis The imaginary line that runs through the center of the earth
Rotation The spinning motion of the Earth on its Axis
Horizon The visual line that separates the sky from the land or water
Sunrise The moment the sun appears above the east horizon in the morning.
Sunset The moment the sun goes below the west horizon in the evening
Day/Night Cycle The repeating pattern of day and night that occurs every 24 hours due to Earth's rotation
Sun The star closest to the Earth.
Apparent Motion The false apperance of the sun moving from east to west across the sky
