WHAT? Only plants do this ; produces sugar(glucose) and oxygen.
WHEN? Only during the day.
WHERE? Photosynthesis happens in the chloroplasts.
WHY? Provides food; produce oxygen which helps us breath.
HOW? Water(H20) comes in the roots, Carbon Dioxide comes through the leaves and releases Oxygen
FORMULA? 6H20 + 6CO2--SUNLIGHT-> C6H1206 + 6CO2
WHAT IS STARCH AND CELLULOSE? OTHER FACTS? Starch- stores energy and is also a long string of glucose molecules Cellulose- supports and strengthens the cell wall Most of the mass that makes up the plant is carbon diocxide and water. There is only one compound the Photosynthesis formula.
WHO? Cellular Respiration
WHAT? Plants and animals can do this; breaks down glucose molecules.
WHEN? Anytime of day.
WHERE? Happens in the mitochondria.
WHY? Helps everything and everyone survive; cells in our body would need energy to keep running.
HOW? We breath in oxgen and realease carbon.
FORMULA? C6H12O6 + 6O2 --ATP-> C6H12O6 + 6O2
OTHER FACTS? uses ATP for energy ; releases energy to cells
