QuestionAnswer
What does photosynthesis? Only plants
What does cellular respiration? All living things
What is the purpose of cellular respiration? To make energy for cells
When does cellular respiration happen? All the time
What are the inputs for cellular respiration? One glucose molecule (C6H12O6), and six oxygen molecules (6O2)
What are the outputs of cellular respiration? Six water molecules (6H2O), six carbon dioxide molecules (6CO2), and ATP
What is the formula for cellular respiration? C6H12O2 + 6O2 -> 6CO2 + 6H2O + ATP
Where does cellular respiration happen? In the mitochondria
What is ATP? Another name for energy
What does ATP do? Powers the cells, gives animals that eat eachother/ plants energy
When does photosynthesis happen? During the day
Where does photosynthesis happen? In the Chloroplasts
What are the inputs of photosynthesis? Six carbon dioxide molecules (6CO2) and six water molecules (6H2O)
What are the outputs of photosynthesis? One glucose molecule (C6H12O6) and six two oxygen molecules (6O2)
What is the formula for photosynthesis? 6CO2 + 6H20 + sunlight-> C6H12O6 + 6O2
What do the chloroplasts/chlorophyll do in photosynthesis? They capture the sunlight and break down all of the compounds and combine them into glucose and oxygen
What is the purpose of photosynthesis? To make food for themselves
What happens to the glucose? It is either stored as starch or cellulose or used in cellular respiration
What is starch? A polymer of glucose molecules strung together to be stored
What is cellulose? A polymer of glucose molecules used in strong things in the plant like tree bark or flower stems. Strung differently than starch so it is stronger.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
