Igneous Rock A type of rock that is formed when lava or magma cools
Metamorphic Rock A type of rock formed by heat and pressure
Sedimentary Rock A type of rock that is formed when sediments are compacted together
Sediment Small pieces of rock and soil
Weathering The process rocks and soil go through when they are broken down into smaller parts
Erosion When sediments are moved from one location to another
Deposition When sediments are deposited into a specific location and remain in that location for a long period of time
Crust The thin, outermost layer of the Earth
Inner Core This layer of the Earth is a solid ball of iron and nickel
Convergent Boundary When the Earth's plates move towards one another
Transform Boundary When the Earth's plates slide past each other in opposite directions
Fault The line or space that runs between two tectonic plates
