Rocks solid masses that are composed of one or more minerals
Minerals natural, solid substances that have an ordered,repeating arrangement of atoms or molecules that form a crystal structure
Rock Cycle natural processes that cause rocks from one type to another over a long period of time
Sedimentary Rock rocks formed from sediments being compacted together and cemented over a long period of time
Metamorphic Rock rocks formed deep underground from existing rocks. Existing rocks are changed over a long period of time due to heat from magma and the pressure of the layers above.
Igneous Rock rocks formed when molten rock from beneath Earth’s surface cools and hardens
Sediment small pieces of weathered rock and Earth material
Weathering the breaking down of rocks and Earth materials through water, wind, or ice
Compaction sediments being pressed together due to the pressure of Earth’s layers
Cementation sediments sticking together
