Plant & Cells Review

Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration

QuestionAnswer
What does Photosynthesis? All green plants.
Why does Photosynthesis happen? To make food/energy for the plant and to produce products that help the balance of all living things.
What does the plant need to do Photosynthesis? Water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide.
When does Photosynthesis happen? Whenever there is daylight, because it need sunlight to do Photosynthesis, it spends its nights breaking down glucose and starch.
What does Photosynthesis make? Sugar, or glucose, and oxygen!
What can sugar, or glucose be used for? Direct energy/food for the plant, cellulose, or starch
What is starch and cellulose? Starch and cellulose are long strings of glucose molecules. Starch is stored energy and cellulose helps the plant make new cell structures.
What does Cellular Respiration? All living things.
Why does Cellular Respiration happen? To help your body grow, and make brand new cells. It helps you survive.
What does the body need to do Cellular Respiration? The glucose and oxygen made from Photosynthesis.
Where does the intake go? Inside your cells into things called mitochondrion or simply the power supply for your cells and your body to keep on moving!
What does Cellular Respiration make? Carbon dioxide and water, + ATP!
How does the sugar and oxygen from Photosynthesis get inside your body? By eating vegetables or something that was at one time eating them, because they are plants and have glucose and oxygen leftover from Photosynthesis.
What is the chemical formula for Cellular Respiration? C6H1206 + 602 = 6H20 + 6C02
What is the chemical formula for Photosynthesis? 6H20 + 6C02 = C6H1206 + 602
What is carbon dioxide and what is ATP? Carbon dioxide is what be breathe out, and ATP is just a fancy name for ENERGY! :) It helps keep you alive!
When does Cellular Respiration happen? 24/7 all day, all night.
Where does the intake for Photosynthesis go? It all goes to units inside the plant cells called chloroplasts, inside something called chlorophyll breaks down everything and transports it to certain parts of the cell.
How does water get inside the plant? Through the roots.
How does the carbon dioxide get inside the plant? Through tiny entrances on the bottom of the leaf called stomata.
How does the sunlight get inside the plant? When sunlight beams on the leaves, it reacts with units called the chloroplasts.
