| Coriolis effect | the curving of the path of a moving object from an otherwise straight path due to Earth's rotation |
| cyclone | an area in the atmosphere that has lower pressure than the surrounding areas and has winds that spiral toward the center |
| hurricane | a severe storm that develops over tropical oceans and whose strong winds of more than 119 km/h spiral in toward the intensely low-pressure storm center |
| ocean current | a movement of ocean water that follows a regular pattern |
| typhoon | a severe tropical cyclone that forms on the western Pacific Ocean and on the China Seas; a hurricane |
| climate | the average weather conditions in an area over a long period of time |
| energy transfer | the movement of energy from one object or place to another |
| weather | a short-term state of the atmosphere, including temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind, and visibility |
| converge | to meet at a point or boundary |
| interaction | the effect that different objects or phenomena have on each other when they meet |
| swirl | to move with a circular pattern repeatedly |
| tracking | following an object's path or pattern of behavior |
