Cell functions and levels of organization

QuestionAnswer
osmosis This is like diffusion but specifically WATER. Water moves from areas where there is more water to areas where there is less water through a cell’s membrane.
diffusion One way things move across the cell membrane - from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration
organism A complete living thing that depends on its organ systems working together
organ A body structure composed of different kinds of tissues that work together.
tissue Similar cells that perform the same function are grouped together
organ systems Made up of organs that work together
homeostasis The cell’s way of keeping everything balanced and stable, ensuring that conditions remain just right for life.
active transport Requires energy and a special protein
passive transport Does not req;uire energy - osmosis and diffusion are examples
