Water Pollution

| Acid Precipitation | Precipitation, such as rain, sleet, or snow, that contains a high concentration of acids (sulfur & nitrogen oxides), due to pollution of the atmosphere. |
| Aquaculture | Raising marine and freshwater fish in ponds and underwater cages. |
| Aquifer | A body of rock or sediment that stores groundwater and allows the flow of groundwater. |
| Artificial Eutrophication | An increase in the amount of nutrients in a body of water through human activities, such as waste disposal and land drainage. |
| El Nino | The reversal of a warm ocean current that flows along the equator moving west to east; and affects worldwide weather. |
| Erosion | The process by which wind, water, ice, or gravity moves soil and sediment from one location to another. |
| La Nina | A process in which the normal westward warm water current along the equator is stronger than usual, resulting in warmer waters in Asia, cooler waters along the Americas, and global weather disruptions. |
| Non-point Source Pollution | Type of pollution for which the source cannot be traced (pollution from everywhere). |
| Point Source Pollution | Type of pollution for which the source can be identified. |
| Potable Water | Water that is safe to drink and use for everyday activities. |
| Salination | The salty contamination of water or soils. |
| Wastewater | Water produced by livestock operations and human activities, including human sewage from toilets and gray water from bathing and washing of clothes and dishes. |
| Watershed | An ecosystem where all water runoff drains into a single body of water. |
