6.9 A Seasons
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Axis | An imaginary line about which a celestial body rotates |
| Hemisphere | Half of a sphere; one of the two halves of Earth that are divided by the equator |
| Orbit | The path of an object around another object; in space, a regularly repeating curved path |
| Revolution | The completion of one full orbit |
| Season | One of the four periods into which the year is divided (winter, spring, summer, and fall/autumn); caused by Earth’s tilt on its axis as it revolves around the sun |
| Tilt | The angle or slant of an object when it is rotated from a vertical or horizontal position; Earth’s axis is tilted at a 23.5-degree angle |
