Endocrine system Glands that release hormones into the bloodstream.
Hormone Chemical messenger that regulates body functions.
Pancreas Produces insulin and glucagon to control blood sugar.
Adrenal glands Produce cortisol, adrenaline, and aldosterone.
Pituitary gland “Master gland”; controls many endocrine organs.
ADH (antidiuretic hormone) Regulates water balance.
Atria Upper chambers that receive blood.
Ventricles Lower chambers that pump blood out.
Right atrium Receives deoxygenated blood from the body.
Right ventricle Pumps blood to the lungs.
Pulmonary circulation Heart → lungs → heart; oxygenates blood.
Systemic circulation Heart → body → heart; delivers oxygen to tissues.
