Pituitary Gland “Master gland” that controls other endocrine glands and regulates growth, metabolism, and reproduction.
Neurotransmitters Chemicals released at synapses to transmit signals between neurons or to effectors.
Red Blood Cells (Erythrocytes) Cells that transport oxygen via hemoglobin.
White Blood Cells (Leukocytes) Cells that defend the body against infection
Nephrons Functional units of the kidney responsible for filtration, reabsorption, and secretion.
Platelets (Thrombocytes) Cell fragments involved in blood clotting.
Plasma Liquid portion of blood that carries nutrients, hormones, and waste products.
Dendrites Branch-like structures of a neuron that receive incoming signals.
Neuron Functional unit of the nervous system that transmits electrical impulses.
Renin-Angiotensin System Hormonal system that regulates blood pressure and fluid balance.
