Microscope Parts

All parts of the Microscope

Used to hold the microscope when it is being carried. Arm
A flat platform where the specimen slides are placed for viewing. Stage

Contains the lens that you look through. This lens is typically 10x. Eyepiece
Moves the stage up and down by large amounts to bring the specimen into focus. Coarse Adjustment Knob
Moves the stage up and down by much smaller amounts to fine-tune focus and increase the detail of the specimen. Fine Adjustment Knob
The three lenses that can be rotated to change the magnification. On most microscopes, they are 4x, 10x and 40x. Objective Lenses (High, Medium, and Low Power)
Connects the eyepiece lens to the objective lens. Body Tube
Holds the objective lenses. Can be rotated to change the magnification level. Revolving Nosepiece
