Physical Science Lesson 8: Forms of Energy

Energy: The ability to do work or produce change
Solar Energy: Energy from the sun
Kinetic Energy: The energy of motion
Potential Energy: Energy that is stored in an object
Chemical Energy: Energy stored in bonds that hold the atoms of a compound together. Energy released during a chemical change.
Electrical Energy: Energy produced by moving electrons.
Hydroelectric Energy: Energy created when water is moved or used to drive machinery and create electricity.
Radiant Energy: Energy released through electromagnetic radiation. Sunlight is its greatest form.
Mechanical Energy: Energy created by movement.
Nuclear Energy: Energy stored in the nucleus of an atom.
Thermal Energy: Energy produced by fast moving atoms which raised the temperature of an object.
